Yesterday, SB and I booked our vacation! In just a couple of months, we’ll being traveling aboard Royal Caribbean’s Serenade of the Seas.
We decided to branch out this year, and fly to a port. This ship leaves out of San Juan, Puerto Rico… and takes us to Antigua, St. Maarten, Barbados, St. Lucia and St. Croix. We are very excited to see these new places, and for the first time in my life, I am going on a vacation to somewhere my parents have never been!

Steven wrote this little “poem” about our cruise-
We’re going on a cruise, we’re going on a cruise!
This seems like the most incredible news!
A brand new boat, without any goats!
With sun and fun for us both!

Cruise Countdown: 74 days

Word Choice

June 28th, 2010

A few weeks ago, I saw this status on Facebook.
(You don’t know her, I promise)

Girl: we’re being evicted. poverty sucks.
Response 1: no good
Response 2: sorry to hear that hope all is well

Is this whole status funny to anyone else but me?
Really - I hate to say it’s funny because I really do feel bad that the girl is being evicted… but “Response 2″ replies, “hope all is well.” Freak. Of course “all” is not well - didn’t you read?! We’re being evicted. Morons.

Anyway… while I am on words… let’s talk very briefly about text messages.
I absolutely cannot stand it when you have a “signature line” in your text message. If you have one, please delete it before sending me a text. I don’t understand the point of this at all.
Signature lines were meant to be added to the bottom of emails - generally work emails, as a professional way to insert your contact info. Text messages are not a professional form of communication, so odds are, if you are texting me, it is not for work/professional reasons… so lose the signature line. Thank you.

Flip-Flops

June 10th, 2010

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of witnessing my friend Kate get married. I was her matron-of-honor… and I am so glad I could be there to celebrate her special day.
The weekend was definitely busy, and I didn’t get much sleep… but I can sacrifice the sleep for a once-in-a-lifetime event. (And… she did it for me).
Kate probably had the most unique bridesmaid’s gifts I’ve ever seen! She gave us all a monogrammed tote bag (to carry all the things we needed for the weekend), pearl earrings and necklace… and flip-flops! She decorated the flip-flops with ribbon and a flower, and said we should all wear them at the reception. I can’t thank her enough for being so thoughtful about my feet! I would have hated to wear my heels all night - the flip-flops were definitely a lifesaver!
Congratulations to Kate & Jonathan!
