HHI Weekend

This past weekend, SB and I visited Hilton Head Island with his parents, sister and bro-in-law. We left on Thursday, arriving in Shipyard around mid-afternoon. Once again, we stayed at the Crowne Plaza- maybe it will become our yearly tradition.
SB and I met up with our bartender from last year, Rich. He seemed to remember us, and by his service… I would guess he really did remember us. We had one drink, then met the rest of our clan to go to dinner.
We went to the HH Prime in Palmetto Dunes. SB and I went there in August last year, and have also been to the Prime restaurant in Daytona Beach - we were excited to be able to to there again with family.
On Friday morning, we were up early to drive into Sea Pines. We visited Harbortown, mainly to check the schedule for Gregg Russell. He plays music to children (and adults) nightly under a big tree. If you are a parent, and have the chance to visit Hilton Head, you must take your children to see Gregg Russell play. Steven saw him as a child, and we always make a point to see him when we are in town- he has been playing there for 33 years. It’s a wonderful memory that your children will likely remember for years to come.
During the day, we relaxed on the beach. The weather was perfect (and this time, I remembered my sunscreen). SB’s sister and bro-in-law reserved an umbrella and beach chairs… so we spent time with them, alternating between the sun and the shade.
That evening, SB and I went to Harbortown to see Gregg Russell’s show. The area was packed - I can’t remember if it was that busy last year, or if the 4th of July weekend brings in that many more people. The show was great- and of course, I had the songs stuck in my head for the rest of the trip.
Here are two videos I took of the show.
Harbortown / Unicorn Song
Saturday, SB and I took a bike ride. We guessed that we rode about 8 miles. It’s always something fun for us - very relaxing… and even though it was 8 miles, it was an easy ride. The bike trails there are great.
We spent the rest of Saturday back on the beach before going to dinner.
Dinner on Saturday was at Stellini, which was new to us all. We had no idea what to expect, other than a good review from the concierge at the hotel. This italian restaurant is off the “main strip,” but I am glad we discovered it. Both the food and service were great - we definitely plan to return there in the future.
We decided not to venture into the crowds for 4th of July fireworks, even though we heard there were great shows in Sea Pines and Shelter Cove. We ended up staying on our hotel balcony, which was high up enough for us to view three different shows!
Too soon, Sunday arrived… vacation ended… ’til next time!

We just got back from Hilton Head and Savannah and I love it. I will be going back ASAP…loved Harbortown, South Beach, and I would move to Savannah’s Historic District tomorrow if Brian would pick up and leave Tennessee. You are so lucky to live so close to these wonderful areas.
