Thursday Thoughts
In Georgia, you have to renew your tags on or before your birthday.
They send you a bill for your Ad Valorem, which costs more or less depending on the age and value of your car. So, you have to pay the Ad Valorem, tag fee… and get your emissions done.
Emissions testing normally costs $18-$25, depending on where you have it done. I paid $18 - I just know where to go!
Anyway, I noticed on my emissions certificate, it tells about emissions testing… and thanks me for doing my part to keep Georgia’s air clean. Now, as far as I know… older vehicles do not have to have their emissions tested- I believe only vehicles 1996 and newer have to be tested. So really - does that make any sense?
Wouldn’t it be likely that an older car would emit more smog, dust, smoke, etc… into the air than a newer car? Why do the older cars get exempt from testing?
Now, on a completely unrelated note…
Please proofread:
(On an invoice I received at work today)
“REMINDER: A NO TORRENCE POLICH FOR ALL PAST DUE INVOICES HAS BEEN IMPLEMENTED FOR ALL CUSTOMERS; PLEASE REMEMBER TO KEEP YOUR ACCOUNT CURRENT!!”
I know what they’re getting at… but wouldn’t you proofread your words before sending invoices out to all your customers?

Yes, you are right on that one sister.
I still drive my old trusty 1994 so I would be one of those that didn’t have to get the emissions testing if I lived there. Maybe Georgia feels sorry for folks like me, they figure if we are still driving a car that old that we probably can’t afford emissions testing! Ha ha ha!
Good luck with all of that, sounds like a pain in the behind to me :]
