Cake Talk

This past Friday, I received my new Harry Potter book in the mail. Be proud; I’ve now started Book 5!
Steven was in the kitchen working on some cakes he was making for Mother’s Day. He doesn’t talk much while he is baking – he is totally focused on the project at hand.
I was sitting at the kitchen table, half watching him work, and half reading my book.

He leaned down to the oven, opened the door, and said, “Come here.” He moved the cake toward him, and said, “I don’t mean to bother you.” About that time, I saw him poke the cake with a toothpick.
Are you talking to your cake?” I asked him.
Well, no… he wasn’t. Thank Goodness. He was talking to me – he wanted me to come and inspect his toothpick. It was probably funnier at the time… but I swear, I thought he was talking to his cake.

We ordered our new computers yesterday, as we haven’t had much luck finding what we want in a store. I can’t wait to get them… I really miss having the convenience of a computer at home.

Awww! I love this story! Whod’a ever thunk Steven would be such a great cake baker? I completely understand the “no talking” while cooking, I am the same way. Probably one of the reasons I enjoy it so much, nothing clogging your thoughts, just the theraputic task of cooking.
