3-day Journey

A friend of mine at Winston’s is doing the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-day walk here in Atlanta. She must raise $2200., or she will not be able to walk this year.
I told her I would post her story and page here, just to see if I could help her raise a little more money. This is a very good cause – and a brave feat to walk 60 miles. No matter how much or how little, all donations help!

Here’s her story and a link to her donation page:
I did this walk in 2005 and let me tell you, it is brutal. On day one we walked 24 miles, day two was 26 miles, and day three was 18 miles. By day three I was applying liquid skin to my feet to replace my missing skin. Of the 2,000 plus walkers that started the walk, 1,200 of us finished it.

The blisters lasted a week but the memories from the walk I will hold with me for the rest of my life. The people we met, the survivors we walked with, the Harley club that kept us going with disco music blaring from their hogs at street crossings, the endless energy of the crew and volunteers, and the people that cheered us on at the cheering stations when we just didn’t think we could take another step. We raised over 6 million dollars in 2005 and 2 million dollars was immediately sent to the gulf coast to rebuild the training and treatment centers destroyed by Hurricane Katrina just two months before.

All proceeds go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund. These two organizations invest millions each year in breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment programs. With over 200,000 women and men diagnosed with breast cancer each year and approximately 40,000 of those will not survive, it is important we all support these two organizations.
If I don’t raise the amount required I will not be allowed to participate in the walk. I want to walk so please help me. Also please feel free to forward this email to anyone you feel would also like to support this good cause.

I am dedicating this year’s walk to my friend and co-worker Cheryl and my friend Yvonne’s cousin, Juanita Brousseau . Fight the good fight girls. You can beat this!

Thank you for your support and God Bless you.
